Extended warranty
Adds time to a manufacturer’s warranty on items you buy with the card.
What it is
Extended warranty coverage adds extra time, often one year, to an eligible manufacturer’s warranty, and pays to repair or replace an item that fails during that extra time.
What to check on your card
- Which warranties qualify: for example only warranties of 3 years or less, 5 years or less, or 12 months or less, depending on the card.
- How much time is added: usually up to 1 extra year, sometimes matching a shorter original warranty.
- Limits: per item and per account.
- Paperwork: keep the receipt, the card statement and the original warranty.
